> Accreditation of the Quality of Care in Physical and Rehabilitation Medecine

THIS IS THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE INTERNET BASED ACCREDITATION OF QUALITY OF CARE IN PHYSICAL AND REHABILITATION MEDICINE (03/12/2007)

This Accreditation Procedure is focused on Programmes of Care in PRM, which are supervised by PRM Board Certified Specialists and which are provided in acute and long-term, management settings. The procedure is run by the Committee for Clinical Affairs of the PRM Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).

Submitted programmes of care are examined by an International Jury of five members, who can exchange their comments before their votes. If a programme is put “under consideration”, the President of the Jury will send a summary of the Jury’s comments to the candidate. The latter will then be able to come back to his submission, in order to improve his declaration, according to the Jury’s recommendations.

If a programme is rejected, his author will keep the right to submit a second programme, without additional charges.

All accredited programmes will be displayed on this homepage, for the information of patients, of physicians and of care managers. This will contribute to a European database of PRM care all over 30 participating countries.

The Accreditation Procedure is totally anonymous. Personal data are kept secret to the Jury until its final decision. Only successfully accredited programmes are displayed. Rejected programmes will not be displayed and their authors will remain anonymous. Only the Accreditation Manager has access to personal data, but he is bound to an obligation of confidentiality.

In 2008, all PRM Specialists who have once been Board certified, since the beginning of Board certification, will be allowed to participate in the European Accreditation. During this launching period, registration fees will range from 100 euros for an individual to 300 euros for a group or an institution
